I just received a request from an incoming employee to convert email and contacts from his outlook to groupwise. I've downloaded your utility to give it a try. I don't have outlook installed on my desktop. can I still use your utility to convert email from his stand-alone pst file? If so, do you have a support document on how to do it? clicking on the migrate button on the Groupwise toolbar gives me the error stating that outlook is not installed.

Outlook client (2000 onwards) is required for this solution. Please see System Requirements for more information.

assuming I've never used outlook before, (safe assumption!) and I'll be installing office 2003, where do I put the pst file and how do I import it in to outlook?

You should be able to find plenty of information on the web about importing PST file to Outlook or you can see How to import .pst file data into Outlook section in the MSDN article.
